D1Softball Analytics: Top 31-40 Pitchers

Some mid-major phenoms, a pair of Pac-12 aces and a Ragin’ Cajun make up the 31-40 top pitchers of the nation.

Pitching Analytics

What makes a pitcher exceptional? To identify those with the best performances, we have broken down pitching into three categories: Zone Control, Pitch Ability, and Durability. Zone Control is how well the pitcher controls the strike zone with strikeouts, walks, wild pitches and hit by pitch. Pitch Ability refers to the pitcher’s ability to pitch and uses statistics like WHIP, FIP and Opp SLG. Durability is largely based on innings pitched and batters faced.

No. 33 Jenny Bressler, UNLV

UNLV’s  Jenny Bressler is our No. 34 pitcher in the nation after going 11-3 with 1.27 ERA in 16 appearances. The sophomore threw 13 complete games for the Rebels, giving up just 15 earned runs in 82.2 innings pitched. The righthanded starter also picked up two saves while striking out 89 batters during the shortened season. She was one of three Rebels to earn all-conference honors picking second team all-Mountain West.

Head Coach Kristie Jarvis on her season:

“Jenny has provided a consistence strength to us in the circle. She has great self awareness on the mound and is able to use knowledge of her strengths to her advantage.  She works hard and I look forward to see her continued growth.”
