After four weeks of action, it’s safe to say you can expect the unexpected in college softball.
UCLA stays at No. 1 for the third-straight week, just ahead of Texas. The Longhorns moved up to No. 2 after wins over UCLA and Washington, while also losing to Fresno State over the weekend. Arizona checks in at No. 4 after a big weekend in Tuscaloosa, while LSU rounds out the top five.
Louisiana took two of three from Florida, causing them to move to No. 6 ahead of No. 7 Oklahoma and No. 8 Florida.
Michigan drops to No. 18 after a tough weekend at the Judi Garman Classic, allowing the rest of the pack to move up a spot. Fresno State (16-4) enters the rankings this week after a big win over Texas, replacing Texas Tech, which went 1-4 over the weekend.
The Southeastern Conference leads with eight teams in the rankings, while the Pac 12 has six representatives, just ahead of the Big 12 with four. Other conferences include the ACC (2), Big Ten (2) Sun Belt (1) American Athletic (1), Mountain West (1).
The D1Softball Top 25 Rankings are compiled by polling 10 sportswriters, broadcasters, analysts and coaches from across the nation, and are headlined by lead writers Rhiannon Potkey and Tara Henry.
