D1Softball’s Top 25 Rankings: Oklahoma Back on Top; Oregon, Wichita State Enter

Oklahoma didn’t wait long to return to the No. 1 spot in the rankings.

Following an emphatic victory over UCLA on Sunday, the Sooners jumped back over the Bruins for the top spot in the D1Softball poll after one week at No. 2. Oklahoma blitzed UCLA 14-0 in five innings to cap the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic.

Oklahoma State, Tennessee and Florida State round out the top five. Tennessee moved up seven spots after beating No. 7 Clemson 1-0 during a perfect 5-0 week that featured all shutouts.

Baylor jumped 13 spots to No. 10 with a 5-0 week that included a victory over Maryland, which dropped from the poll.

After going 1-3 at Mary Nutter, Florida dropped nine spots to No. 13. Alabama fell six spots to No. 12 following a home loss to Kennesaw State.

Oregon and Wichita State entered the rankings at No. 21 and 23, respectively. The Ducks went 4-1 at Mary Nutter, including wins over No. 13 Florida, No. 24 Missouri and No. 25 Northwestern. Wichita State finished the week 4-0 with two wins over North Texas.

The SEC leads all conferences with 10 teams in the poll followed by the Pac-12 with five. The ACC and Big 12 each have four teams and the AAC and Big Ten each have one.

Along with Maryland, UCF dropped from the poll.
