Pitcher and Catcher Power Rankings: Week 5

Analysis

Who are the best of the best at each position in college softball? D1Softball seeks this out based on offensive production, defensive reliability, individual impact on their teams and much more.

Note: Each player’s position is determined by where they started a majority or plurality of games this season. The position is subject to change as the season goes on.

Kentucky’s Stephanie Schoonover continues to deal for the Wildcats. This past week, she helped blank Missouri in all three games and picked up 25 strikeouts against the Tigers. Alabama’s Montana Fouts and Texas State’s Jessica Mullins enter the rankings after continuing to carry a heavy load for their teams. Mullins propelled Texas State into the Top 25 rankings with wins over the Tide and Texas.

Note: To be qualified for consideration a pitcher has to have thrown 30 innings.

Terra McGowan has added significant power to Oregon’s lineup. Despite it only being March, the redshirt senior has already set career highs in home runs (8) and RBI (28). Sharlize Palacios rejoins the list as her bat has started to come on while also maintaining one of the best pitching duos in the country at UCLA.
