As Liberty watched James Madison go on its magical run through the Women’s College World Series, the team had a collective thought; that should’ve been us.

Not only did Dot Richardson’s team have the talent to do so, but the Flames dropped two tight contests to JMU at the Knoxville Regional. After falling to JMU in 10 innings in the opening contest, Liberty fought through the loser’s bracket and held a late lead against its fellow Non-Power Five powerhouse. JMU stormed back with a five-run fifth inning, ending Liberty’s season.
