Samantha Ricketts didn’t have a backup plan when it came to hiring a new pitching coach for Mississippi State.
Once Josh Johnson left to become an assistant coach at Virginia Tech, Ricketts wanted to add a female to the staff to provide more balance.
Mowatt-McKinney was at the top of her list.
“She is the only one I was bringing in for an interview,” Ricketts said. “I was really hoping she said yes.”
