Appalachian State has hired Whitney Jones as head coach.

Jones spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach on staff at Ohio State. During the 2023 season, her offense finished third in the Big Ten in overall batting average and scored more than 300 runs.

Prior to her tenure with the Buckeyes, Jones spent a single season on staff at UCF. Her resume includes a four-year stint as volunteer assistant at Washington, her alma mater. She also served as a facilitator for Athletes Unlimited.

During her playing career, Jones was an All-PAC 12 Honorable Mention honoree in 2014. She previously served as a high school head coach and worked a graduate assistantship in the athletic performance department at Tulsa.

In 2024, Appalachian State posted a 21-30 overall record and a 4-20 showing in Sun Belt conference play, missing the conference tournament.
