D1 Pitcher of the Year: Jordy Bahl
Top StoriesFollowing Oklahoma’s NCAA record-run to a third straight national title at the Women’s College World Series, it’s time to sit back and celebrate the best and the brightest of the 2023 season. D1Softball will be handing out its postseason awards over the next few days.
Pitcher of the Year: Jordy Bahl, P/UT, Oklahoma
Bahl made plenty of headlines in the past week between winning the 2023 Women’s College World Series Most Outstanding Player award and announcing she’ll transfer from Oklahoma. Nevertheless, the former top recruit has lived up to her potential and showed her greatness in Oklahoma City. The Sooner ace threw 24.2 scoreless innings at the WCWS, including a win and save in the championship series against Florida State.
Bahl finished the season with a 0.90 ERA, the second-best in the nation behind Stanford’s NiJaree Canady, who Bahl beat at the WCWS. Bahl pitched her best in the biggest situations, constantly limiting the damage with runners in scoring position. Bahl had wins against Florida State, Tennessee, Stanford, Oklahma State, Washington, Utah, Duke, Texas, Clemson and other top-tier opponents.
Bahl said she’d be heading to play somewhere in Nebraska, her home state, to help grow the game. Of course, whatever school she ends up at, she’ll be a star.
