D1Softball Preseason All-AmericansTop Stories
With Oklahoma winning back-to-back national titles and reloading via the transfer portal, it’s no surprise the Sooners make up a majority of D1Softball Preseason All-Americans.
The top-ranked Sooners lead all teams with eight selections, including six on the first team. Tiare Jennings, the No. 1 player on the D100, leads the way for OU, joined by Cydney Sanders, Jayda Coleman, Grace Lyons, Kinzie Hansen and Jordy Bahl.
No. 2 UCLA also has three honorees, with first-team pitcher Megan Faraimo joined by second-team selections Sharlize Palacios and Maya Brady.
No. 3 Oklahoma State (Kelly Maxwell and Rachel Becker), No. 5 Florida (Skylar Wallace and Kendra Falby), No. 8 Arkansas (Hannah Gammill and Chenise Delce), No. 16 Kentucky (Kayla Kowalik and Erin Coffel) and Wichita State (Addison Barnard and Sydney McKinney) each place two players on either the first or second team.
Thirteen schools have one representative: Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, BYU, Clemson, Florida State, Miami (Ohio), Northwestern, Notre Dame, Stanford, Tennessee, UCF and Washington.
The Big-12 leads all conferences with seven players on the first team and 10 All-Americans overall. The SEC has eight All-Americans, including three first-team selections, followed by the Pac-12 with seven overall selections. The ACC (3) and American (3) also have multiple representatives, while Violet Zavodnik (BYU, WCC) and Karli Spaid (Miami, MAC) are the lone representatives from their respective conferences.
D1Softball’s staff selects the preseason All-America teams with one guiding principle in mind – to identify the best and most valuable college softball players for the 2023 season.
