The junior shortstop finished 8 for 10 and reached base safely 15 times in 17 plate appearances. Wallace was 4 for 4 with three home runs and seven RBI in a series-opening win over Georgia. It was the first multi-homer game of her career. Wallace finished the week with four home runs, a triple, seven walks, eight RBIs and eight runs scored. She slugged 2.200 and had an .882 on-base percentage while also stealing three bases. Defensively, she had four assists and four putouts.
Pitcher of the Week: Lauren Derkowski, Michigan
The junior righthander threw her first career no-hitters in back-to-back days for the Wolverines in victories over Purdue. Derkowski had 20 strikeouts over the 14 innings to become the first pitcher in program history with complete-game no-hitters in consecutive starts. Derkowski finished the week 3-0 in Michigan’s four games.
Freshman of the Week: Alexis Pupillo, University of Northern Iowa
The rookie catcher finished 8 for 11 with five home runs, four walks, 11 RBIs and 11 runs scored. Pupillo moved into the overall lead for home runs in the Missouri Valley Conference with for the season. This category is going to be a bit of a double team honor this week, with UNI sophomore Maya Dodge going 9 for 12 with five home runs, a double, triple, three walks and 16 RBIs.
