Gwen Svekis Announces Retirement

On Wednesday, veteran catcher Gwen Svekis announced plans to retire. Her playing career will end following the completion of the Athletes Unlimited season this weekend.

Svekis is currently in her 5th season as part of Athletes Unlimited. One of the league’s inaugural Players Committee members, she finished fifth on the AU leaderboard in 2020 and in 2023, earning All-Defensive Team honors in 2021 and ’23.
