Jordy Bahl Announces She’s Joining Nebraska Cornhuskers

Everything is coming full circle for Jordy Bahl.

After originally comitting to the University of Nebraska before deciding to play for powerhouse Oklahoma, Bahl announced on social media on Thursday that she will be joining the Cornhuskers for her final two seasons of college eligiblity.

“This state, these people, and this N are all things I’m excited, proud and thankful to be a part of,” Bahl said in her post on Twitter.

Bahl graduated from Papillion-LaVista High School in Papillion, Neb., where she won three state championships and was named the Gatorade National Player of the Year in 2021. The star pitcher originally committed to Nebraska in 2017 but decommitted and announced her commitment to Oklahoma before her junior year.

In her two seasons at Oklahoma, Bahl helped the Sooners win two national titles. She was named the Most Outstanding Player of this year’s Women’s College World Series after throwing 24.2 innings without allowing a run.

Bahl finished the season 22-1 with a 0.90 ERA, 192 strikeouts and 37 walks in 147.1 innings pitched. The all-around talent was fiery in the circle and a weapon in all facets. Bahl was used as a pinch runner several times, including during the WCWS, and can play other positions on the field if needed.

In announcing her decision to leave Oklahoma earlier this week, Bahl said she was hoping her return home could boost the sport’s profile overall.

“I am excited thinking about growing the game that has provided me so many opportunties for growth, in the home state, a current overlooked state for girls in softball at all ages,” she said. “and I am excited to finish the softball journey right where it began.”
