Pat Conlan Departs as Georgetown Head Coach
Breaking NewsPat Conlan is departing as Georgetown’s head coach, the school announced on Friday.
The only coach in program history, Conlan guided the Hoyas’ club softball team into a Division 1 program in 2006. She posted a 269-573 overall record in nineteen seasons as head coach, including a 14-33 showing in 2024, and shepherded 17 all-conference honorees during her tenure.
“I’d like to thank Pat for her effort and dedication to the program which she oversaw from its infancy,” Georgetown athletic director Lee Reed said in a statement. “We are losing a talented and experienced coach, and we wish her well in her future endeavors.”
Prior to taking the helm of the Georgetown program, Conlan’s resume included three years as head coach at Fairfield, a tenure that included being named the MAAC Coach of the Year in 1997. She also spent stints as an assistant coach at NC State, UConn, and Fairfield.
“It has been an honor of a lifetime to spend the last two decades leading the Georgetown softball program,” Conlan said in a statement. “I’m incredibly thankful to have worked alongside talented and dedicated assistant coaches, and I’ve appreciated the chance to work and mentor such a remarkable group of student-athletes. The Hilltop will always hold a special place in my heart.”
The Hoyas’ 2025 season schedule was announced on January 8th; the squad is scheduled to open their season on February 7th in Charleston, South Carolina.
