Stanford ace Alana Vawter held Georgia’s offense in check for 10 innings to lead the Cardinal to a 3-1 win over the host Bulldogs on a day where pitching dominated at the Red and Black Classic.

On paper, the Stanford roster looks almost identical as the Super Regional team. However, head coach Jessica Allister sees a vastly improved team based on what the freshmen class has to offer.

Mariah Mazon struck out 11 Stanford batters and is one win away from adding a Women’s College World Series appearance to her resume.

Stanford has had quite an interesting fall thanks to strict COVID protocols. The Cardinal vows to be ready in the spring, however.
