USA Softball Releases Player of the Year Top 25 Finalists

Jocelyn Alo, Jordy Bahl, Jayda Coleman and Grace Lyons are the Sooners still in contention for the honor. Alabama’s Montana Fouts, Virginia Tech’s Keely Rochard, UCLA’s Megan Faraimo, Arkansas’ Danielle Gibson, USF’s Georgia Corrick and Washington’s Baylee Klingler are also among the finalists (full list below).
Considered the most distinguished individual honor in Division I college softball, the USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year award recognizes outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female collegiate softball players from across the country. This season’s winner will be the 20th player honored in the history of the award.
The list consists of 10 pitchers and 15 position players. Among the Top 25 finalists are five fifth-year/graduate students, nine seniors, five juniors, four sophomores and two freshmen representing 20 colleges and six conferences. The SEC leads the way with six finalists, followed by the ACC, Big 12 and Pac-12 with five each and two each from the American Athletic Conference and Big Ten.
The Top 25 list will be narrowed to 10 finalists, which will be released May 4, before the top three finalists are revealed May 18. The 2022 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be announced prior to the NCAA Women’s College World Series, which is scheduled for June 2-10 in Oklahoma City.
