Pitcher of the Week: Allison Benning, North Florida

The former Minnesota transfer was excellent on both sides of the ball in week nine, but made a decided difference for her team from the circle. Benning picked up two wins in a conference series over Kennesaw State, throwing a complete game in both outings including a 10-inning effort in the series opener. Benning officially recorded 17 innings of work, notching 24 strikeouts and allowing seven hits and two runs. In the 10-inning series-opening win, Benning set an Ospreys D1 program record with 16 strikeouts.

Freshman of the Week: Bridget Nemeth, Penn State

Nemeth piloted her Nittany Lions to a series win over Nebraska, throwing two complete games and earning two wins on the weekend. In the series opener against the Huskers, Nemeth threw a full seven innings, allowing two hits and one unearned run while striking out four. She induced ten groundouts in the game and picked up 16th win of the year. In the series finale, the first-year hurler gutted out a 10-inning complete game, allowing ten hits and five runs while striking out 14. She induced eleven flyouts in that game, helming her squad to a series-deciding victory. In that final game, Nemeth also contributed with her bat, hitting her first career home run in the top of the 7th inning to tie the game and send it to extras.
