Player of the Week: Kiley Naomi, Oklahoma State

Leaving the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational with a .583 average is a pretty darn good weekend. Naomi led the Cowgirls to a 5-0 weekend with 12 RBI, four home runs – including a grand slam against Louisiana – and drew five walks. Naomi is a key component in the Cowgirls’ offense, which struggled opening week in Puerto Vallarta.

Pitcher of the Week: Stephanie Schoonover, Kentucky

Schoonover allowed just two hits in 17.1 innings. She threw an 18-strikeout no-hitter against then-No. 22 North Texas, a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts against McNeese and 2.2 no-hit innings in relief against Sam Houston State.

Freshman of the Week: NiJaree Canady, Stanford

The rookie right-hander shined over the weekend at the Red & Black Showcase against a formidable opponent. Canady opened the weekend with a one-hitter against Charlotte with 16 strikeouts and tossed a three-hit shutout with nine strikeouts and one walk in a 3-0 victory over Georgia. Canady still hasn’t allowed a run through the first 22 innings of her career.
