Christina Sutcliffe Departs as Northern Illinois Head Coach
NewsNorthern Illinois has parted ways with head coach Christina Sutcliffe.
Sutcliffe spent twelve years as the Huskies’ head coach, collecting a 287-324 overall record and a 132-145 mark in Mid-American Conference play.
“I want to thank Coach Sutcliffe for her commitment to NIU and her leadership in creating connections on our campus and her dedication to the softball program over the last 12 seasons. We wish her all the best in the future,” NIU athletic director Sean Frazier said in a statement. “We will work swiftly to find the best coach to lead Huskie softball moving forward.”
Prior to her tenure in Dekalb, Sutcliffe spent seven seasons on staff at Miami Ohio and also spent three years as head coach at Rhode Island from 2003-05. She began her coaching career with a single-season stint on staff at Chattanooga.
The Huskies finished the 2024 season with an 18-34 overall record and a 9-19 showing in conference play.
