Kelly Kovach-Schoenly Out as Ohio State Head Coach

News

Ohio State has parted ways with head coach Kelly Kovach-Schoenly.

Schoenly spent twelve years as the Buckeyes’ head coach, posting an overall record of 367-226-1. She led the program to five NCAA tournament appearances and posted a 155-113-1 record in Big Ten play.

Originally hired prior to the 2013 season, Schoenly signed a contract extension following the 2022 campaign. That deal was set to end next year, after the 2025 season.

“On behalf of the department, I want to thank Kelly for her leadership of the program and for the positive impact, both on and off the field, on the many student-athletes who wore the Scarlet and Gray during her tenure,” Ohio State executive associate athletic director Mike Penner said in a statement.

Prior to taking the helm at OSU, Schoenly spent six years as the head coach at Miami Ohio; her resume also includes stints on staff at Penn State and Michigan.

The Buckeyes finished the 2024 season with a 31-20 overall record and a 12-11 mark in Big Ten play.
