D1Softball Top 25: Top Tier Remains Strong; Arizona, Mississippi State Lead Group of New Entrants

Top Stories

Torrential rain caused cancellations across the state of Florida to close week two, but Clearwater and other locales still managed to get some games in ahead of the incoming storms. The games that were played certainly made an impact on the D1Softball Top 25 rankings.

Oklahoma is still Oklahoma, remaining undefeated in a visit to Lake Charles, Louisiana that included matchups against McNeese, Central Arkansas, and Lamar.

Texas stays at No. 2 after a quality, if abbreviated, showing in Clearwater that included back-to-back wins over Tennessee and Stanford on Friday night. Georgia is a convincing No. 3 after a powerful showing of their own in Clearwater; the Dawgs are 9-0 on the year and now have wins over Oklahoma State, UCLA, and Florida State.

The week’s biggest rise belongs to Texas A&M; the Aggies jumped up nine spots in the poll, to No. 16, after a 5-0 weekend that included two impressive wins over Oregon as well as victories over San Diego State and Loyola Marymount.

Four teams enter the rankings for the first time this year: No. 17 Arizona, No. 21 Mississippi State, No. 22 California, and No. 25 Boston University.
