D1Softball Top 25: There’s a New Number One in Town

For the first time in more than a calendar year, a team not named “Oklahoma” is at the top of the D1Softball Top 25 poll.

Texas takes over the top spot after a 5-0 showing this week that moved their record to 17-1 overall. The Sooners fell to No. 2 following their Sunday loss to the Ragin Cajuns, OU’s first loss since February 19, 2023.

The nation’s final undefeated team, LSU remained at No. 3 in the poll after a 6-0 showing in their week four home tournament. The Tigers took down San Diego State twice and picked up close wins over Illinois and in-state foes McNeese and Louisiana Tech.

Mississippi State and California enjoyed the biggest moves of any team this week, each moving up five spots in the poll. The Bulldogs check in at No. 17 after an undefeated showing in their own home tournament, which moved their overall record to 17-3. Cal, on the basis of a major win over Georgia and a 4-1 showing overall on the week, moved up to No. 19.

For the first time this season, no teams entered or fell out of the poll in week four.
