D1Softball’s Top 25: Oklahoma(s) Remain on Top; Northwestern, Louisiana Re-Enter
Top StoriesAs they prepare to start Big 12 Conference play, the Oklahoma schools remained steady at the top of the D1Softball rankings following one final weekend of perfection in tournament play.
Oklahoma completed a 7-0 week that included four run-rule wins and a victory over No. 7 Florida State to stay at No. 1 in the poll, followed by in-state rival Oklahoma State at No. 2.
Coming off second straight sweep in SEC play by taking down LSU in three road games, Tennessee moved up one spot to No. 3 in the poll. UCLA dropped a spot to No. 4 after going 2-1 in a Pac-12 series win over Washington. Clemson rounds out the top five, moving up a spot after sweeping Virginia in ACC play. Stanford dropped to No. 6 after beating Oregon 2-1 in a Pac-12 series.
Georgia made the biggest jump in the rankings, ascending nine spots to No. 9 after sweeping Texas A&M on the road. The Aggies dropped seven spots to No. 20.
Northwestern and Louisiana re-entered the poll while Auburn and Texas State dropped out.
The SEC leads all conferences with eight ranked teams, followed by the Pac-12 with six. The Big 12 and ACC have four apiece while the Big Ten has two and the Sun Belt has one.
