D1Softball Top 25: Tennessee Surges; Central Arkansas and South Carolina Enter
Top 25There was a lot of volatility among ranked teams, with nine of the top 12 from last week’s poll suffering at least one loss. No. 1 Oklahoma and No. 2 UCLA managed to go unscathed to keep their spots secure.
Tennessee surged four spots to No. 3. The Lady Vols bounced back from two losses to Baylor by beating Virginia Tech and sweeping Kentucky. Three of the four wins came via run rule.
Three new teams joined the poll in Auburn, South Carolina and Central Arkansas while Virginia Tech, Indiana and Louisiana dropped out.
South Carolina and UCA are in the D1Softball poll for the first time ever. The Gamecocks earned their first Top 25 ranking of any kind since 2019 by sweeping Texas A&M. UCA finished a two-game season sweep over No. 11 Arkansas last Tuesday and remained atop the ASUN standings with a three-game weekend sweep of Bellarmine.
The SEC leads all conference with 10 ranked teams, followed by the Pac-12 with five, Big 12 with four and ACC with three. The Big Ten, AAC and ASUN each have one team ranked.
