D1Softball’s Top 25: Georgia and Texas Climb, Indiana Enters

Top 25

The status quo—and the Oklahoma schools—reigns supreme after an exciting weekend of college softball. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State remain atop the D1Softball Top 25 after sweeping Big 12 series against Iowa State and Baylor, respectively. In fact, the top seven teams remain unchanged, with no movement until No. 8 Georgia sliding up a spot after a strong weekend.

Texas is the only new entrant in the top 10, moving up after some thrilling rallies en route to sweeping a much improved Texas Tech. No. 14 Kentucky tumbles six spots after losing two of three against No. 15 Texas A&M—the week’s most upwardly mobile team. Only No. 18 Florida’s stock fell more precipitously than that belonging to Kentucky.

No. 24 Indiana debuts in the Top 25, emphatically taking three games and a place in the rankings from Maryland. The Hoosiers are working on a 15-game winning streak. The other “new” face this week is a familiar one, with No. 25 Wichita State back in the mix after winning its American Athletic showdown series at UCF.

The conference breakdown remains unchanged, with the American’s Wichita replacing the Sun Belt’s Louisiana (which dropped a game against Appalachian State but won its 75th consecutive conference series) as the only representative from outside the Power 5.
